"The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step."

          - Lao Tzu

In 2008, oil prices reached $100 a barrel, NASA's Messenger space probe is in its first flyby of the planet Mercury, stock markets begin to plunge fueled by the subprime mortgage collapse and the global financial crisis grips the world, Kosovo declares independence from Serbia, an exploding star halfway across the visible universe becomes the farthest known object ever visible to the naked eye, and the first African-American is elected the 44th President of the United States.  This was a year of great change and great challenge for the world and also the year Akari Energy was founded.

Vance Nobe and Frank Molina conceived the idea to build a renewable energy company just as the nascent industry was beginning to take stride.  Vance would leverage his wealth of engineering expertise to design and develop some of the most efficient and ingenuitive systems built today while Frank would capitalize on his financial and management background to lay down the operational infrastructure on which the company could build itself and be energetically positioned for the future.

In spite of The Great Recession affecting the global economy and facing some of the greatest challenges of the times, Akari Energy began successfully engineering and building renewable energy systems and working to fulfill its mission - "To make the world a better place to live."

By mid 2009, Lourdes Aguinaco joined the team to reach out to communities, discover opportunities where Akari Energy could help others, and to help develop policy that would become the hallmark of our company's culture.  At the beginning of 2010 her responsibilities grew as she contributed substantially to the development of Shop Akari, now a thriving and fast growing renewable energy products online store.

Today, Akari Energy has earned the reputation of trust, integrity, quality, and performance.  Bringing us into the next era of power generation, Akari Energy is The Green Energy Company for America.
